The ROG Phone 8 and 8 Pro has just arrived in the Philippines and it brings with it a refreshed design plus a host of new features. Positioned as premier gaming smartphones, this new iteration seek to captivate not just gamers but also young professionals.
Unveiled during the ASUS Transcendence event at XYLO Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, the ROG Phone took center stage as the final revelation, following the introduction of the latest ZenBook devices and the new ROG Zephyrus Series.
ROG Phone 8 and 8 Pro
Popular among gamers for having top-class hardware, the highly anticipated gaming phone series are now significantly slimmer by up to 15 percent to their predecessor. These are now also designed to look more refined making it feel truly like a flagship smartphone.
On top of that, the series introduces features like the customizable Aura RGB Lighting for the ROG Phone 8 and Anime Vision Mini-LED display for the ROG Phone 8 Pro allowing its users to show off their gamer vibe. These are also the first dust and water resistant gaming smartphones that is IP68 certified.
Under the hood, the ROG Phone 8 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform. This also packs a new Rapid-Cooling Conductor design that draws heat from the processor. Further improving it's cooling performance, the new AeroActive Cooler X will also come with the ROG Phone 8 Pro 1TB variant allowing it to stay cool as much as 26 degrees.
These also come with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display which uses LTPO technology for adaptive refresh rates from 1-120Hz. These are also capable of up to 720Hz touch sampling rate and a peak brightness of 2500 nits.
Among the biggest improvements on the ROG Phone 8 Series come from their cameras.
Capable of competing with the flagship smartphones of today in terms of camera capabilities, the Phone 8 Series packs a triple camera setup which uses a 50MP Sony camera sensor for its main plus a 24mm ultra-wide lens and a mid-telephoto lens with a 50mm equivalent focal length. The camera system is equipped with built-in OIS which can be paired with EIS for more stable photo and video footage.
