Smart Communications, Inc., together with its value brand TNT, has issued a warning to subscribers about fake text messages prompting them to re-register their SIMs through fraudulent SIM registration portals.
In their latest advisory, Smart and TNT exposed this new scam, where the message includes a link to a phishing site designed to mimic Smart's official SIM registration portal.
“Smart did not send these messages. These are phishing attempts meant to steal your personal information,” the telco clarified.
Smart further emphasized that there is no need to re-register your Smart or TNT SIM if it was already successfully registered. Any messages asking to re-register should be ignored.
They also reminded customers that the official SIM registration portal is https://simreg.smart.com.ph.
Subscribers are urged to report scam texts and phishing attempts through the Smart and TNT reporting platform, HuliScam, at www.smart.com.ph/huliscam.
The HuliScam portal supports PLDT’s new advanced network firewall, designed to block malicious messages and enhance mobile security for subscribers.
