I got to witness history as Huawei unfolded the world’s first trifold smartphone—the HUAWEI Mate XT—at Pavilion Mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Being there in person, I could feel the excitement in the air as the crowd gathered, including some big names from the global tech industry.
But the real showstopper? The immersive 3D experience created using the Mate XT’s massive foldable display. It was like stepping into a futuristic world—think Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo or BGC High Street in Taguig—but this time, Huawei was bringing that same eye-catching effect to life with the Mate XT’s unique foldable screen. Seeing it in action up close was something else.
Of course, I took my chance to get a hands-on experience with the Mate XT. The folding mechanism, OLED display, and powerful cameras are enough to make any tech enthusiast drool. For me though, the real game-changer was the seamless transition between smartphone mode, two-screen tablet mode, and an even bigger three-screen option. It truly makes you think about the future of mobile devices.
Another highlight was the breakdown display of the Mate XT's Precision Hinge System and its flexible inward and outward folding design. It was fascinating to see the technology behind the device and understand exactly what makes it work.

Boasting further on their innovation with durability and strength, we got to witness a live demo where a massive steel block was launched straight at the Mate X6’s bare frame—just like in their promo video. And just like that, the frame came out completely unscathed. Watching it happen in real-time was seriously impressive!
Huawei also had other premium devices on display, including their top wearables and the newly released flagship tablet, the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2-inch (2025). We got to test out the improved GoPaint app, which felt even smoother with the PaperMatte display. One demo really stood out—a Huawei staff member shined a light directly at both a conventional tablet and the MatePad Pro, and we saw firsthand how the MatePad Pro completely eliminated glare. That alone made the audience appreciate the display tech even more.
