I’ve reviewed a ton of smartwatches, but one of the most eye-catching ones has just arrived for us to check out: the Xiaomi Watch S4. With a promising set of features and a major focus on design, I’m really intrigued by what this can do for me, despite already being captivated by its looks as a potential favorite.
So, join me as I unbox it and share my first impressions.
Before anything, the Xiaomi Watch S4 retails at PhP 7,799 for the Black and Silver variants and PhP 8,299 for the rainbow variant.
Unboxing
The packaging might not be overly flashy, but upon opening the box, we're immediately greeted by a sleek and classy looking smartwatch that just caught my eyes.
“Wow” was honestly the first thing I said when I saw it inside.
As for what’s in the box, there’s not much—just a user guide, the Xiaomi Watch S4 itself, and a charging puck with two pins. This suggests the watch doesn’t support wireless charging, which is a bit expected at this price.
The model we have here is the black variant, complete with black rubber straps. The body has a premium metal finish that feels much more expensive than you’d expect from a midrange smartwatch.
The watch also features a rotating crown that doubles as a button, with an extra shortcut button just underneath.
For those into customization, much like the Xiaomi Watch S3, the S4 offers interchangeable bezels and straps. Xiaomi sells these accessories separately, but we’ve got a black stitched strap made from a blend of nylon and rubber, giving it a cool textured feel. The bezel, which has a holographic wood-like pattern, replaces the original one with tick markers, adding a fresh look to the watch.

Xiaomi Watch S4 Bezel and Strap options |
Up front, you’ve got a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a sharp 466 x 466 resolution. Since it's AMOLED, everything looks super crisp and vibrant, with those deep blacks that make colors pop.
The first watch face we saw when unboxing looks pretty sleek, though it’s mostly white. But one cool feature we noticed right away is the ability to quickly switch watch faces by swiping right to left, which pulls up your options on the right side of the screen. It’s a nice touch.
The Xiaomi Watch S4 runs on HyperOS 2 for wearables, bringing in some exciting new features, including a unique gesture control function that I’m definitely looking forward to testing out.
So far, just by the design alone, I have a feeling this watch is going to be a hit in the market. And it's shaping up to be pretty impressive in terms of what it can offer. I can’t wait to share my full experience as I use it over the next few days.
